The problem
Do you know what each dish really costs you today?
Most restaurants cost their menu once — in a spreadsheet — and never again. Meanwhile, supplier prices change every week.
When beef goes up and you find out at the end of the month, the margin is already gone. You can't fix a food cost you can't see.
- Spreadsheets go stale the day after you build them
- Price increases hide inside invoices nobody re-types
- You find out about lost margin weeks too late
You got into this for the food. Let oventab handle the numbers.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is recipe costing?
Recipe costing means calculating what each dish on your menu actually costs to produce, ingredient by ingredient, based on your purchase prices. It's the foundation for pricing your menu and protecting your margin. Recipe costing software — also called food costing software — like Oventab keeps that calculation permanently up to date instead of freezing it in a spreadsheet.
How is the food cost percentage calculated?
Food cost is the cost of a dish's ingredients divided by its selling price. If a burger costs you $3.20 to produce and sells for $10, its food cost is 32%. Most restaurants aim for 25–35%. Oventab calculates it per dish automatically and flags anything above your target.
How does Oventab keep costs up to date?
Through your purchase invoices. Send them as PDF, photo or electronic invoice: Oventab reads them, updates each ingredient's price to what you actually paid, and recalculates every recipe that uses those ingredients.
Do I need a credit card for the free trial?
Yes. The trial lasts 7 days and requires a card to start, but you won't be charged anything if you cancel before it ends. There's no lock-in: you can cancel in one click from your account, anytime.
Does it work for bars, cafés and dark kitchens?
Yes. Oventab is built for any food business that buys ingredients and sells prepared items: restaurants, bars, cafés, bakeries, dark kitchens and caterers.
Can I manage several locations?
Yes. Plans scale by number of locations (1, 2, 5 or 10), each with its own recipes, suppliers and food cost targets. For more than 10 locations, contact us.
How do I cancel?
From your account, in one click, whenever you want. There are no annual contracts or cancellation fees. If you cancel during the trial, you pay nothing at all.
What invoice formats does Oventab read?
PDF files, photos of paper invoices, and electronic invoice formats. If your supplier sends something unusual, write to us and we'll look into supporting it.
